I am a veteran looking to get into farming hemp for paper production and/or value added crops for farmers markets. The hemp would be used as part of a program to help fellow veterans write, edit, and share their autobiographies with friends and family. With a high rate of distrust in the military community, and being a published author and advocate myself, I want to be able to provide veterans a means of telling their stories on their own terms within a community of peers. I would ideally process the flower into CDB salves and tinctures to offer alongside other value added items like jams, honey, etc. I have experience canning and selling under cottage laws in MD, but have been in OR for over a year now.
I am very flexible.
I have a partner in the Rodale Institute through 2025, and, while I am the visionary, I want to be as familiar with small scale farming as possible so we can hit the ground running in a couple years.
I would like at least one or two seasons growing on more than just my own property (suburban backyard) before assessing how to continue pursuing my long term goals.
I plan to partner with a farmer in training at the Rodale Institute of PA to create a tiny home monastic farming community for veterans, to include a market stands type retail outlet to provide decent jobs and meaningful community.
I have no housing needs, and will commute from North Albany.
It is my strong personal belief that every person is equal in value and dignity and commit myself to listening before speaking and learning before leading.
