Hi! We are Alli & Dylan. We are currently living on a farmstead in Lyle, WA raising sheep and chickens. We also caretake for alpacas, ducks, and a goose. We have a hobby garden that is about 1/4 acre and a greenhouse where we are starting seeds. We are looking for more acreage to tend to and be able to expand our farming practice–ideally turn it into a market garden operation. We have a dream of hosting farm dinners as well, providing farm-to-table dinners and showcasing other local farms/products.
water, greenhouse for starts, pasture ideal but not necessary, electricity
Alli has been gardening since she was a kid with her grandparents. She has worked on several farms in the Portland area over the last 3 years she's been living in the PNW. She also managed a farmers market in Portland for 2.5 years.
Dylan started his farming experience on a coffee farm in Hawaii and also spent 2 years working for a lettuce farm. Having spent 10 years living on the Big Island, all of his housing situations came with extensive home gardens/fruit tending. He bought a 3 acre property on the Big Island and started a homestead of his own, planting lots of fruit trees, bananas, and flowers.
We want to focus on growing Italian Heirloom vegetables, herbs, perennial flowers. Our goal is to host farm dinners, collaborating with other local farms and growers to showcase their local produce. We have over 15 years of restaurant/personal chef experience and want to bring those skills to the farm table.
We want to eventually buy some land of our own to tend. Eventually, we would love to have a greenhouse dedicated to hosting rotating farm dinners, highlighting local farms and chefs. We also want to grow our sheep herd and start producing fiber/meat.
We are two people with a dog. We also have 4 chickens and 2 sheep. Ideally, we'd bring those animals with us, but can find alternative pasture for the sheep if necessary.
We are both friendly, welcoming, and open-minded people. We do everything we can to make people feel included no matter what their background is. We love farmers.
