Description

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

Remove all invasive blackberries from field and swale. Remove some of the cottonwoods that grow in the swale. Log the large black walnut trees and a few of the big leaf maples that border the city neighbors' border. Replace or remove the blight-infested filberts/hazelnuts. Install well. Mostly maintenance of fencing, etc.


Owner’s Long Term Vision for the Property

Eventually to sell the farm with the small house that goes with it. Currently it is two tax lots. .85 acre for the house/tax lot. 8.17 acres for the exclusive farm use, including 400 McKenzie waterfront. Would love to see a younger couple or family bring a purpose and vision to this amazing urban/rural property.


Current Use

Old filbert orchard in rapid decline with Eastern Filbert Blight. About 2.5 acres. About 3-4 acres the trees were removed so is currently mostly wild pasture. Grew garlic on upper house lot, fenced in.

I think it's river-bottom. Not completely sure. SW corner soil has been scraped for the water quality swale mandated by the Federal Government.

Any Restrictions That Could Limit Agricultural Production

Water quality swale needs maintaining from invasive blackberries, as well as planted with filtering plants. No spray is allowed. Acreage can be organic, but is not currently. Well is not installed yet due to limited funds available and lack of farming profit. Some vandalism due to closeness of Rodakowski Boat Landing, thus the well will be installed on our property within 500 feet of the McKenzie River and will be completely enclosed/protected. In the flood plain so building is very restricted.
