We are looking for someone who is willing to try a farming operation here. We are prepared to make it easy for a new person to give it a try. Farm is located 2 miles north of the Buena Vista Ferry in the American Bottom area in Polk County. We are also 5 miles south of Independence
We are looking for a responsible person to try and set up a viable farming operation that could include a CSA operation and growing out other crops for sale. We would mentor the new user of the land. Great opportunity to increase crop production and develop contract sales to restaurants and wholesale buyers such as Pacific Coast Fruit. Opportunity to grow large quantities of crops on contract to buyers such as restaurants and wholesale buyers.
To establish a farming operation on the farm as established by the user of the land. We will keep this property as a working farm.
Varied fruit trees, year round vegetable beds and spaces able to be developed into additional growing beds. Fruit and fresh vegetable sales and wholesale buyers. The land is under utilized and the Class ! soil type is Malabon silty clay loam. It is an excellent growing soil. Most of the unused land is maintained as a regularly mowed fallow prairie site. For over 20 years this has been a non spray farm, organic but not certified, with a wide variety of bird and insect life including a large range of native pollinators. This is a varied habitat.
Well water used for irrigation.
We are in the process of putting in an additional well for an expanded agricultural operation including a nursery.
Class 1 soil. Malabon silty clay loam. Deep top soil. Excellent percolation and no standing water. This is as good a soil one can find in the Willamette Valley. It is too good to establish a vineyard.
Large barn and a couple of small accessory farm buildings. Many hoop house equipment. We are in the process of building greenhouses and equipment storage buildings and other accessory farm building to support an expanded farm operation. The operator will need to provide their farming equipment except as noted below. We have power and water.
We have a large variety of hand tools, sprinklers and hoses to be used in the operation.
We are zoned EFU so there are no zoning restrictions. Lack of skill and ability of the new user could be a limiting aspect to production. Living too far from the farm could prevent full time farming which is required during the planting and growing season.
To contact a land holder, you must first fill out a land seeker profile and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
