We envision a self-sustaining community driven homestead to share with friends and family. We live in work in the city and value being close to nature and developing a sense of place in a rural setting.
We have 14 secluded acres in Deer Island less than an hour from Portland. Tide Creek meanders through the property. The land is accessed by a ½ mile gravel road easement off of Canaan Rd and currently, has no utilities. Developments so far include a small cabin, two canvas wall tents, outdoor kitchen, chicken coop, pig pen, outdoor shower, and wood burning hot tub. A neighbor’s spring supplies water for the animals, garden, kitchen, and shower/hot tub.
Possible future uses could include farming, livestock, off-grid living, or whatever you can dream up.
We are seeking a caretaker/caretakers who are interested in contributing to the property and bringing their own vision. We are looking for a small financial contribution but are also open to some work trade options. $200-$600 per month depending on what accommodations are required.
