Overview:  Food Waves’ partner farm, Converging Creeks Farm (Colton, OR), has developed a reputation for high quality organic produce, excellent customer service and commitment to food security.  Recognizing the need to provide technical and financial support to the next generation of small acreage stewards and home gardeners, Food Waves is offering part-time internship positions for beginners to intermediates. The successful applicants will be trained in all aspects of how to operate a small production farm.


  • Potential work days are 9 – 5:30 Monday/Friday and 9 – 2 Thursdays from 8/16/18 through 11/5/18. Actual work hours are flexible, and the stipend will vary according to availability.
  • Participants will apply sustainable/organic farming techniques to increase food production by working with a with a lead farmer to learn all aspects of production (from seeding to planting to harvest and marketing.).
  • Participants will also get a chance work with bees, goats, turkeys, ducks, pigs, and chickens, but these activities take place outside of the allotted farm hours listed above.

Required    A successful applicant will have the following:

  • Desire to learn sustainable farming techniques in order to grow your own vegetables, fruits, and herbs, as well as, educate others through community outreach.
  • Interest in the local, organic food movement and food-related
  • Ability to work well alone and with a team
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills, as well as, being resourceful, self-motivated, and hard-working
  • Access to transportation (arrive on time for work on farm)

Financial    This is a stipend position (i.e. $60 – $200/month).  Amount allocated will depend on your skill level and availability.  Tent sites are always available with access to an outdoor kitchen, bathroom and shower if you are interested in staying over on occasion. Other compensation is supplied in the form of farm produce, basic food staples, and the ability to trade produce for other products (at end of markets or with excess produce only).
