Albertina Kerr strengthens Oregon families and communities by helping children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges – empowering them to live richer lives. Project Grow is a program of Albertina Kerr’s Port City, a day services program for adults with developmental disabilities that focuses on assisting participants become professional farmers and artists.
We are currently seeking direct support professional (DSP) with experience in and passion for organic farming and animal husbandry. Our ideal candidate can compassionately support the medical, hygienic, and food preparation needs of participants with a variety of physical and intellectual abilities, while creating a community atmosphere that supports creative skill building and problem solving.
As a direct care support professional, you will be responsible for scheduling activities and partnerships in the community and accompanying persons served on scheduled daily tasks. Other duties include working as part of a team to develop Individual Support Plans, maintaining mandatory reports, and daily support tracking. A desire for teaching, learning, exploring, and establishing creative community partnerships are a must. We are looking for farmers who are excited about sharing their knowledge and passion for farming to come up with creative solutions to make farming accessible to people with disabilities. We are looking for someone to help establish community partners in the Portland farming community, and who can think creatively about what it means to be a farmer and the many different ways to farm. The ideal candidate is a person with initiative and drive who has the ability to function autonomy in the community with participants.
A valid Oregon Driver’s license and a clean driving record
High school diploma or GED
A criminal background check
The ability to multi-task while being present in the moment
The ability to respond to crisis situations
Paid training provided upon hire includes CPR, First Aid, and Oregon Intervention System training as well as all agencies required trainings.
Hours: Full-time; Weekdays
